"Her husband gave her no way to survive". On May 9, 2021, Refka Cherni's husband, a National Guard officer, fired five shots at his wife with his service weapon. The young woman had filed a complaint against him for violence a mere 48 hours before.

In this episode, we follow the story of Refka's everyday life, which was marked by physical, economical and verbal violence perpetrated by her husband, through the testimonies of her brother; Karima Brini, president of the association Femme et Citoyenneté du Kef (Women and Citizenship of Kef); the lawyer in charge of the case; as well as the former head of the police unit specialised in fighting violence against women in Kef. 

After getting married in 2018, Refka was under his control. She loved him, made excuses for him and hid the violence from her family. When she lost her job during the 2020 lockdown, he no longer gave her money to survive off of. She could no longer support herself and her son. 

On May 7, 2021, she couldn't take it anymore. Having been physically abused by her husband, she decided to file a complaint. Worried about her and her son's financial stability, she went to the police station, where the officers tried to intimidate her. 

On May 8, for fear of reprisals from her husband, she dropped the complaint. On May 9, he murdered her.
