This episode follows our first days in northern Syria, where we realize that the authorizations for the planned visits have not been granted.

A meeting with a high-ranking official becomes necessary to push an opaque and slow process forward, in a region shaped by conflict and uncertainty.

The next day, we met the spokesperson of the Kurdish administration’s foreign affairs department. He explains the absence of official relations with Tunisia and gives approximate figures about Tunisians in the area.

He shares a personal anecdote involving a Tunisian ISIS leader, then shifts to the camps: women, children, repeated marriages, fathers of multiple nationalities, and the difficulty of identifying detainees and organizing repatriations.

When he speaks about the future, his outlook is bleak.
